Frequently Asked Questions

How can you tell if I have rosacea or just "adult acne"?

While they look similar, rosacea often includes persistent redness and visible blood vessels (telangiectasia), which acne does not. Our providers use your high-resolution photos to look for these subtle clinical markers and determine your specific subtype.

Can you treat ocular rosacea (eye involvement) online?

Yes, we can evaluate and treat mild-to-moderate ocular symptoms, such as dryness or "gritty" feelings in the eyes. However, if we suspect your vision is at risk or your case is severe, we will recommend an in-person ophthalmologist—and you won't be charged for our visit.

What kind of photos do I need to upload?

To get the most accurate diagnosis, please upload three photos: one of your full face from the front, and one of each side. Use bright, natural light (standing near a window is best) and ensure you aren't wearing any makeup or tinted sunscreen.

What medications can be prescribed virtually for rosacea?

We prescribe a variety of FDA-approved treatments, including topical creams like Metronidazole, Azelaic Acid, and Ivermectin. For more moderate cases, we may prescribe low-dose Doxycycline, which works as an anti-inflammatory rather than a traditional antibiotic.

How long will it take for my redness to fade?

Topical treatments for bumps and pimples often show results in 2 to 4 weeks. However, the persistent background redness associated with rosacea can take longer to manage and often requires a combination of medication and trigger avoidance.

What if my case is too advanced for telehealth?

Severe rhinophyma (thickening of the skin on the nose) or severe ocular cases may require in-person procedures like laser therapy or surgery. If our provider determines your condition isn't suitable for a virtual visit, you will be notified and not be charged.

Does the 30-day support window apply to rosacea too?

Yes. Rosacea can be unpredictable, so we include 30 days of follow-up messaging with your provider to ensure your skin is tolerating the new medications and that your plan is working as intended.

Is this visit HSA/FSA eligible?

Yes, our virtual consultations are considered eligible medical expenses. You can use your health savings account to pay the $95 flat fee.
